2026 Land Rover Defender prices: Upgrade brings more V8 options, new tech

UPDATE, 25/06/2025 3:30pm: Land Rover has officially confirmed pricing and specification details for the updated 2026 Defender range. This follows the earlier release of information in May, with local deliveries scheduled to begin in October.

The refreshed 2026 Defender lineup brings a host of updates, including exterior styling enhancements, improved interior tech, and expanded engine options—particularly in the high-performance V8 category.

Exterior and Design Enhancements

Across the Defender 90, 110, and 130 models, all variants now come with revised front and rear bumpers, a new headlight design, and flush rear lights featuring smoked lenses. Additionally, each variant gains gloss black Defender-branded wheel centre caps and a gloss black grille bar, contributing to a more premium and unified visual identity.

Buyers can also select from newly introduced 22-inch diamond-turned dark grey alloy wheels, with added accessories such as a black-finish Expedition roof rack, cross bars, deployable and fixed side steps, and an integrated air compressor (Defender 130 only). New exterior colour options include Borasco Grey, Woolstone Green, and a Sargasso Blue finish exclusive to the high-performance OCTA variant.

The OCTA also features textured graphite exterior trim and available chopped carbon fibre interior and exterior accents. An optional winch rated at 4500kg adds even more rugged utility to this flagship model.

Interior and Tech Updates

Inside, a larger 13.1-inch infotainment touchscreen replaces the previous 11.4-inch unit, providing improved usability and visual clarity. The gear shifter has also been repositioned on the dash for better ergonomics.

The centre console is now more versatile, incorporating a sliding compartment for discreet storage. Removable side pockets can be optioned for additional convenience and organization.

Powertrain Revisions and New Features

One of the most significant changes for 2026 is under the hood. The Defender 90 and 110 models now offer a new supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine (P425) that replaces the previous P400 inline-six turbo. The P425 produces 313kW of power and 550Nm of torque, capable of launching the Defender 90 from 0–100 km/h in a claimed 5.6 seconds.

The Defender 110 also introduces a new diesel variant with the D250 3.0-litre mild-hybrid turbo-diesel, producing 183kW and 570Nm. It comes in S trim with standard 19-inch alloy wheels and electronic air suspension. This adds to the existing powertrain options, including the D350 turbo-diesel, P300e plug-in hybrid, and the OCTA-exclusive P635 twin-turbo V8.

Also debuting across the lineup is adaptive off-road cruise control, which maintains a constant speed on difficult terrain, freeing the driver to focus on navigation. An optional driver attention monitoring system with a driver-facing camera is available for added safety.

Defender Sales and Popularity

The Defender continues to lead Jaguar Land Rover sales in Australia, with 1277 units delivered as of April 2025. That’s nearly double the sales of the next-best Range Rover Sport (693 units), reinforcing the Defender’s dominant presence in the premium off-road market.
